Financial Aid or Assistance
Southwest Institute of Technology is an eligible institution under the Federal Pell Grant, Federal SEOG, (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant), Federal College Work-Study (CWS), and the Federal Perkins Loan (formally the National Direct Student Loan) programs. Southwest Institute of Technology is also eligible under the FFEL Act (Federal Family Education Loans), which includes the Federal Stafford Loan (Subsidized and Unsubsidized), and the Federal PLUS Loan Programs. Eligibility for the above programs is determined upon submission of a Financial Aid Application. To receive financial aid, a student must maintain satisfactory progress and be in good standing according to institutional standards.

A Financial Services Officer is available to provide assistance in any of the above areas. Students are also encouraged to consult with their high school guidance counselors, their employer, appropriate labor unions, and social, fraternal, and religious organizations for information on private funds that may help finance their education.

Career Services
Upon graduation, career search assistance is available to all students at no additional cost. Students are assisted with resume preparation, interviewing techniques and employment opportunities. While Southwest Institute of Technology is eager to assist graduates in finding rewarding careers, neither the school nor any staff member can guarantee employment.

Many employers come to the school in search of qualified job applicants. The school also actively solicits employers for graduate placement. An updated assessment of career opportunities is maintained in the Career Services Office.
In addition to supporting our graduates, the Career Services Office also assists students who require part-time employment while attending school, provided the student has been attending for a minimum of thirty (30) days and is maintaining overall satisfactory progress. There is also a part-time job board available to all students that are maintained by Career Services.

Advising
The staff and faculty of the school are always available to assist students with problems, whether school-related or personal in nature. Students will be provided advisement when academic or attendance problems arise. Staff and faculty make information regarding appropriate community resources available when students express a need that school personnel cannot provide.

Housing and Transportation
Since most students live within a reasonable commuting distance of the school, off-campus housing is not provided. The school will, however, provide assistance in locating housing for those students who have a housing requirement in the immediate area.

Transportation, room and board, and housing costs vary with individual requirements. Since Austin offers a wide range of accommodations to meet these individual needs, a more accurate estimate of costs can be obtained by contacting the Student Services Director.

Drug Prevention Program
Southwest Institute of Technology has adopted and implemented a program to prevent the illicit use of drugs and alcohol by students and staff. To promote drug awareness and prevention, anti-drug brochures and posters are displayed in general student and staff areas. Information regarding drug and alcohol abuse and community resources for treatment is available to all students and staff.
